Sir Peter Robert Jackson is a New Zealand film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known as the director and producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy. Fittingly born on 31 October 1961, Jackson grew up in the small seaside community of Pukerua Bay. It was a great place to grow up because it was a very small town, but it was also surrounded by bush and forests; there were steep hills and deep gullies; there were beaches, rocks, ocean, and only five miles away – but totally inaccessible – the mysterious Kapiti Island. It is much more accessible now than in his childhood. At 17 he was sent to a course in Auckland and decided to buy a book to pass the time on the train journey north. The book was The Lord of the Rings. The journey that lay ahead would be longer and more exciting than he could have imagined.

Yosemite National Park is located in central Sierra Nevada in California. It is accessible by car all year, 24 hours a day. One day it can be warm and sunny and days later it can be cold and snowy. The best time to see waterfalls is spring. Some of them are completely dry by August. The most famous among them is Yosemite Falls (2,425 ft) which flows from winter through early to mid-summer. Indians have lived in the Yosemite region for as long as 8,000 years. After the discovery of gold in the Sierra Nevada foothills in 1849, thousands of miners came to the Sierra to seek their fortune. Their arrival resulted in conflict with local native people who fought to protect their homeland.
You can drive into the park by car.
Waterfalls in Yosemite can dry out in summer.
